EMDR Therapy
Helping you unlock and heal your brain, mind, and body
Do you constantly feel like your past is invading the present?
You’ve tried to change things, but nothing seems to be working. And you’ve tried everything you can think of. You’ve taken the medication. Read the self-help books. Talked endlessly with friends to the point that you worry they’re sick of hearing about it. Promised yourself a million times you’ll wake up tomorrow and do it differently. You’ve gone to sleep just to turn off the noise in your head, the heaviness in your heart, and the pain in your body. You’re tired of having the good days cave into the pain, sadness, and trauma.
Maybe traditional talk therapy didn’t work for you, either.
No matter what you’ve tried, it comes back. What is it? Maybe a lot of things, like…
Your good moments always cave in to the pain, sadness, and trauma, which makes you scared to enjoy those moments
Deep perfectionism and feeling like you’re never enough
Physical problems like chronic digestive issues, poor sleep, headaches, or feeling like you can’t catch a full breath
Recurring nightmares that wake you up in a panic
Flashbacks and traumatic memories
Constantly dreading the future or running from the past
You feel stuck. It feels pointless. And you wonder how things could actually be different.
I know. Hold on.
There’s hope.
EMDR can help you unlock your brain, mind, and body, and build the life you deserve.
EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (I’m gonna stick with the acronym), is an evidence-based therapy that can help you heal. EMDR has helped many people like you reclaim their lives, be more present, and heal their past. EMDR started as a trauma recovery therapy and has been shown to help people heal from anxiety, depression, perfectionism, chronic relationship problems, and much more. Even better, EMDR can help you heal from these things even if you don’t know where it came from, struggle to talk about it, or have tried other types of therapy in the past.
With EMDR, you can leave the past where it belongs and move forward.
You can be present and more connected with yourself and other people, and move into the future with confidence that you can tackle what comes your way. Whether you are dealing with trauma or something else, EMDR can help you find and hold onto hope, find helpful ways to see your problems, and finally move forward in your life the way you deserve.
EMDR isn’t a one-size-fits-all type of therapy. I do it in ways that are tailored to you, your story, and your healing. My core strengths are using compassion, creativity, and hopefulness to help you see and feel a brighter future for yourself.

Maybe you’ve heard some cool things about. Maybe you’re nervous to try because it sounds so different from “regular” therapy. Here’s an idea of what to expect. We first focus on building up your strengths and coping to get you ready to reprocess the memories, difficult experiences, or haunting emotions. Reprocessing is the part of EMDR most people have heard about. We activate your brain through bilateral stimulation (following my fingers side to side with your eyes, tapping on your shoulders, or using clickers in each hand). Bilateral stimulation allows your brain to do what it’s made to do: process and file away information. Where this really differs from talk therapy is that there isn’t as much talking! This is why many people may prefer EMDR. We let your brain do the work while we help it along without needing to rehash all the details or retraumatize you by retelling every detail of an event.

EMDR can help people process memories, experiences, and emotions in faster ways than regular talk therapy. This isn’t guaranteed, though, and everyone’s path to healing is unique. My promise to you is that we will approach your concerns with EMDR and whatever combination of other approaches that will get you the healing you deserve in the most efficient way we can.

A lot of people who struggle with traditional talk therapy find EMDR to be different, refreshing, and helpful in a different way. Many people have literally told me, “EMDR changed my life.” Now, there isn’t a 100% guarantee that any form of therapy will work the way you expect. AND, I know it was helpful for me in ways that other therapy hadn’t before. And what I CAN promise you is that I’ll do everything I can to help you through EMDR.

Yes! EMDR can be just as effective online as it is in person. Just like with every form of therapy, it may not be the best fit for everyone. There are some things to keep in mind when doing online EMDR therapy. For example, the size of the screen you’d use for sessions, suicidal thoughts that may require in-person help, and your internet connection’s stability and reliability. If you have questions about whether online EMDR therapy would be a good fit for you, feel free to reach out and we can talk more!
